(reduced size image)Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh were the three gifts the Wise Men (also called The Three Kings or Magi) brought from the East to celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus (Matthew 2:11). Though many people have heard of Frankincense and Myrrh and have even sung about them in Christmas carols, few have actually seen, let alone owned, these precious substances. Frankincense and Myrrh are aromatic resins extracted from rare trees. Frankincense, an almost white resin, was one of the most prized and costly substances in the ancient world, worth more than its weight in gold. It was used in medicines and incense (Exodus 30:34). Myrrh, a dark resin, was widely used in perfumes, incense and embalming. Gold has been long valued due to its beauty and resistance to corrosion. It has been used in jewelry and commerce for thousands of years.
We have housed this historic set in an attractively
carved 4
by
6 inch (10cm. x 15cm.) hand made wooden box imported from
India.
Included are
natural
gold flakes and nuggets as well as actual Frankincense and Myrrh resin
imported from the Middle East. A descriptive card explains
the
significance
of the items. This set makes an excellent teaching aid or a
precious and long remembered gift. This is your chance to own
or
give "the original Christmas gifts".

The story of the Widow's Mite can be found in the Bible in
Mark
12:41-44. For Jesus, the widow's small offering of her only
two
small coins was worth far more than the large contributions of the rich
who gave only a small portion of what they had. The mite,
also
known as the lepton, was the smallest denomination struck in ancient
Judea. It was a crudely made copper coin.
Most display an anchor on one side and a wheel on the other. The coin
was
first struck during the reign of Alexander Janeaus, and continued to be
used
during the time of Christ. The minters were paid by how many pieces
they
produced, not how well they produced them. As a result the
coins
tend
to be poorly struck and are off center, and every coin is
different. The coin comes mounted on a card that describes
its
historical significance.

This 1961
1 Pound coin from
Israel pictures a man underneath an elephant stabbing the belly of the
beast. The coin, known as the “Death of a Hasmonean Hero” or
the
“Maccabean Hero” tells the story of Eleazer killing a war elephant as
is written in 1 Macabees 6:42-47. In 163BC Seleucid King
Antiochus V sent an army to Judea put down the revolt lead by Judas
Maccabeus who was seeking freedom for the Jewish state.
Included
in the forces were 32 of the most terrifying weapons of the era -
elephants. Each elephant lead a force of a thousand
men.
Eleazer, the younger brother of Judas Maccabeaus, spied the largest and
most heavily armored of the elephants. Assuming that it
carried
the king, he single handedly fought his way through the phalanx of
soldiers surrounding the elephant, ran under the beast and stabbed it
in the belly. The dying elephant fell on top of Eleazer,
killing
him. Alas, the elephant did not carry the king, and the
Jewish
forces soon retreated in the face of strength of the Seleucid
army. The 32mm copper-nickel coin was struck as part of
Israel’s
annual series of Hanukkah coins. The coin features the Hebrew
letter “mem” between the elephant’s legs, which indicates the coin is
Proof. The obverse of the coin features a torch and the legend in
Hebrew “And he gave up his soul in battle”. The coin has a
mintage of just 9324 pieces in Proof. The historic coin
catalogs
$25, however our price is much less.
Well,
maybe not the car, but an officially licensed multi-color 1 Dollar coin
from the Cook Islands featuring the Ferrari F2008 race car.
The
attractive 38.6 mm silver-plated coin features a multi-color image of a
red Ferrari in a race on one side, and Queen Elizabeth on the
other.
The coin comes in a descriptive folder that gives detailed
specifications of the car. The undated coin has a
mintage
of only
5000 pieces. As far as I can figure, the only connection
between
the
car and the Cook Islands is that there are none in the Cook
Islands.
Anyway, I am sure the coin will be popular. The coins theme,
attractive design and packaging make it a great gift for auto and
racing enthusiasts.
Not long
after Somalia came out with their set of six
SILVER-plated
Guitar coins in 2004, a major promoter requested “something different”
that he could promote, so they came out with a limited issue set of six
GOLD-plated Guitar coins. The designs are the same as the
silver-plated version, the only difference is that the coins are
gold-plated rather than silver plated. The designs include the classic
red and white Fender Stratocaster, an American Flag Stars and Stripes
Gibson Flying V, a black Gibson Flying V, a pink star Guitar used by
various rock stars including Gary Glitter and Abba,
a blue
Gibson
X-Plorer and a yellow Klein. The coins are 1 Dollar legal
tender
coins
issued by the Somali Republic (though they never actually circulated in
Somalia). They are approximately 45mm (1.75 inches) long and
are
dated
2004. Only a limited number of the gold-plated version was
issued.
When they were minted the original dies were starting to wear out, so
some coins may show minor die cracks. It is an attractive and
unusual set of coins.

SANTA CLAUS Santa's Sleigh &
Reindeer on reverse
These look like a United States million dollar bill.
Unfortunately
they
are not real. However they are a lot of fun to pass around, give as
gifts
and show off. They say "the first million is the hardest", so after you
get this you can start on the second.
We can now offer three different styles of Million Dollar
bills.
The
traditional style, which looks like the One Dollar Bill, The New Style
which is similar to the newer $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills, and a
Santa Claus note, which is perfect for
holiday
gifts. Your choice as to types, or you can mix and match in
singles,
lots of 10 and lots of 25. Sorry, only a single type at the
per-100
price as these are pre-packaged.
Please specify type you want on the

This is quite an impressive set that someone
assembled. 200
different
coins from 200 different places. Well maybe not quite 200 different
places,
they got a bit creative on their accounting for some locations, it is
more
like about 194 different places. Still it is an impressive set with a
wide
variety of world coins from both current nations and nations that no
longer
exist. Most coins are Uncirculated. It makes a great way to start or
expand
a collection or learn more about the world. The coins are loose,
however
the set comes with a list to assist you in identifying the
coins.
