EMERGENCY COINS OF GERMANY by R. Upton & Emergency Money Society. (1970) Good catalog of German Notgeld coins (1915-1923), including municipal, porcelain, transportation, and POW and private issues. Provides descriptions and values but lacks illustrations. Values are outdated but they are a good indication of relative scarcity. Provides standard "U" or "E" numbers used by many collectors. softcover, in English, 200 pages sold, I may get more later.

CATALOG OF GERMAN WAR TOKENS by Robert Lamb. (1966) A good standard English language reference book on German Municipal Notgeld coins from 1914-1923. Long out-of-print, but is still one of the best English language references available. Narrower in scope than the Upton book (it only includes municipal issues) but well illustrated, so easier to use. Provides L numbers used by many English speaking collectors. Good identification guide, but the prices are badly outdated (multiply by 10 for estimate of current prices). 143 pages. NEW $15.00
