WORLD COIN & PAPER MONEY BOOKS
A lot of information (and misinformation) can be found on internet, but
much of the information about coins is best (or only) still be found in
books.
There is an old saying in the coin hobby, "buy the book
before
you buy the coin". Related to it is another old saying
"Knowledge
is power". Knowing what to look for in a coin can save you
hundreds
of dollars - and perhaps even make you some money. There are
a
lot
of collectors out there that "cherry pick" dealers because they read
the
book and know what to look for.
We are pleased to offer you a number of older, specialized, out of
print titles dealing titles dealing with subjects not easily found
elsewhere.
Build yourself a reference library! You never knows when you
will find that weird coin or token that needs to be researched.
The books are all unused unless otherwise indicated , but the covers of
some may be a bit "shopworn" from being schlepped about in boxes for
the past 20 to 50 years

EARLY
WORLD COINS & EARLY WEIGHT STANDARDS by Robert Tye
An excellent reference on ancient and medieval coins of Europe, Persia,
India and China. Over 1,200 common or influential coins that
a collector may encounter are illustrated. It is especially
useful as a basic catalogue of the most often encountered Indian and
Chinese issues.
It also provides a thoughtful and well researched discussion on the
origins of coins, the spread of the use of coins, how various
weight and coinage systems developed and interacted with one another.
Included is an introduction to ancient and medieval denomination sets,
an overview of pre-modern systems of weight and their influence on
coins. Also included are a series of maps illustrating aspects of the
spread and development of coinage. It is a good reference for both the
beginning collector who wants to learn the basics and the specialist
who wants to understand how seemingly unrelated coin types and
denominations have common threads. 183 pages, 8.5x12"
softcover. New

PAPER MONEY
PAPER MONEY MESSAGES, A
PICTORIAL PERSPECTIVE by Jeffrey Jerome Wing
These three richly illustrated volumes explore the symbolism, history,
propaganda and economics behind the designs used on paper
money. All three volumes are interesting,
informative and filled with obscure and
surprising information. I highly recommend them for anyone
interested in paper money, history, economics or politics or just easy
reading.
The volumes are
8.5 x
11", softcover, color and are 242 to 256 pages.
The recently released
Volume
3 (Christianity) focuses
on Christians as
well as Christian images (and some non-Christian images) found on
banknotes throughout the world. Also included are stories
about
some of the many educators, explorers, evangelists, activists,
scientists and medical professionals found on banknotes around the
world. It is a good read for anyone interested in history or
banknotes and a great reference for both Christians and non-Christians.
