AUSTRIAN PROOF SET INCLUDES 2 SILVER COINS
This unpackaged 7 coin set includes the Austrian 2, 5, 10, 50
Groschen, 1, 5 and 10 Schilling dated 1965 in Proof condition.
The
5 and 10 Schilling are silver. The 26mm silver 10 Schilling
depicts a woman wearing a traditional "Golden Bonnet" from the Wachau
region in lower Austria on one side and the Austrian shield on the
other. The 23.5mm silver 5 Schilling depicts a famed
Lipizzaner
stallion with a rider on one side and the Austrian Shield on the other.
Both coins are struck in .640 fine silver. The
aluminum-bronze 1 Schilling and 50 Groschen respectively feature
Edelweiss flowers and the Austrian Shield. The Austrian Eagle
holding a hammer and sickle in its claws is on the 10, 5, and
2 Groschen. The 10 and 2 Groschen is aluminum.
Interestingly the zinc 5 Groschen is struck to standard of
the old
World War II Nazi 5 Reichspfennig, which was used in Austria during the
war. Because zinc is a reactive metal the 5 Groschen is spotted.
It is a 19mm, 2.5 gram zinc coin with a reeded
edge.
It is an attractive Proof set that includes two silver coins.

ATTRACTIVE
COINS
OF THE ITALIAN
REPUBLIC
This attractive set of 4 Italian coins includes the aluminum 5 and 10
Lire, aluminum-bronze 20 Lire and the small (17mm) stainless steel 50
Lire. The 5 Lire has a nautical theme, with a dolphin on one
side and an ancient rudder on the other. The 10 Lire had
agricultural theme, featuring an ancient plow on one side and wheat
ears on the other. The 20 Lire depicts Ceres on the obverse
and an oak sprig on the reverse. The 50 Lire featured a head
on one side and a naked Vulcan pounding on an anvil on the other. In
2002 the coins were replaced with the Euro and demonetized.
The coins date in the 1990's are are Uncirculated.

NETHERLANDS RABOBANK 1991 MINT SET
In 1991 Rabobank, a large multi-national bank based in the Netherlands,
arranged for the Royal Dutch Mint to issue a special mint set for the
bank. The set came in a special Rabobank holder, with a
Rabobank medal and a place for a Rabobank executives business
card. The set included all the 1991 Netherlands coins issued
for circulation: the 5, 10, 25 Cents, 1, 2 1/2 and 5 Gulden. Just 4000
sets were issued, most of which were distributed to the bank's most
important business clients in The Netherlands. The set
catalogs for $40, but due to a fortunate purchase we can offer this
scarce set for much less.

FLEUR DE COIN SETS (SELECT SETS)
Each
year the Dutch Mint produces a packaged set that includes specially
struck examples each denomination minted that year. The Dutch Mint
calls them by Fleur de Coin (FDC) sets.
Some references call them Select Sets or Mint sets. Sets issued prior
to 1999 also include a dated mint medal that is only issued in the
sets. In some
years sets were issued with special packaging and special medals. The
1978 set is in a plastic and cardboard holder, the 1983 to 1985 sets
are in a hard-plastic holder. The later sets are in a cardboard holder
with the coins sealed in plastic. We

PHILIPPINE COIN
SET
This 6 coin set includes the 1, 5, 10, 25 Sentimos, 1 and 5 Piso dated
1995 to 2000. The 1 and 5 Sentimos are both 15.5mm and both
made of copper-plated steel. The 5 Sentimos was made with a
center hole to help distinguish it from the 1 Sentimo. The 1
and 5 Piso depict Philippine heroes Jose Rizal and Emilio
Aguinaldo. Both fought for Philippines independence from
Spain. The reverse of all the coin mint set except the 5 Sentimos
depict arms of the Central Bank of the Philippines which includes the
date 1993 (the year the bank was reorganized). All
six coin mint set are Uncirculated.

THAILAND BI-METALLIC

COMMEMORATIVES
Thailand introduced circulating bi-metallic 10 Baht commemorative coin mint set
in 1995. Since then it has issued a wide range of these
popular coin mint set honoring numerous important events,
anniversaries, government agencies and celebrations
of the Royal Family. Though the coin mint set are reasonably priced
and popular with collectors, they can be difficult to obtain.
One of our correspondents has put together a collection of 61 different
of these commemorative coin mint set. This remarkable set includes
nearly all of the 10 Baht coin mint set issued thus far, all in Uncirculated
condition, and at less than $3 per coin. It would be a
difficult set to put together at any price.

VATICAN
1975 HOLY YEAR COIN SET
Every 25 years and for special occasions, the Pope declares a Jubilee
or Holy Year. It is a special year for reconciliation and the
pardon of sins. It is often celebrated with pilgrimages to
Rome or other sites. The tradition dates back to an ancient Hebrew
custom of Jubilee mentioned in Leviticus 25:10 and has been celebrated
regularly in the Catholic Church since 1300. Special coins
were minted for the 1975 Jubilee, utilizing designs unique to the year
featuring biblical stories on the reverse and the Papal Arms on the
obverse. This 1975 Holy Year set
includes the 5, 10,
20,
50 and 100 Lire in Uncirculated condition in the official folder.
